APM Project Fundamentals Qualification

Description

The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) provides a comprehensive awareness of project management principles and is designed for those wishing to gain a broad understanding of the workings of this profession.  The workshop will provide a thorough explanation of the terminology, processes, techniques and roles associated with the world’s fastest growing profession.

Successful candidates will increase their confidence in the language of project management and the structure of a successful project.  They will be able to take an active part in a project team and make a positive contribution to successful delivery. This workshop will also be beneficial to related professional requiring an understanding of project delivery disciplines.

Content

The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification includes:

• The Principles of Project Management
• Planning and scheduling
• Defining the optimum approach to complete each project successfully
• Communications
• Quality management
• Teamwork
• Resource management and efficient utilisation of resources
• Risk management
• Project handover and review
• Ensuring a controlled environment

Candidates completing the course will understand:

• Project management and the operating environment
• Project lifecycles
• The roles and responsibilities within projects
• Project management planning
• Project scope management
• Resource, scheduling and optimisation in a project
• Project risk and issue management in the context of a project
• Quality in the context of a project
• Communication in the context of a project
• Leadership and teamwork within a project

Candidates also be given an insight into the structure and style of questions within the formal examination and will be fully prepared to attempt the examination at the end of the course.

This workshop is accredited by the Association for Project Management the UK Chartered body for Project Management.  The workshop prepares applicants to sit the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification examination.  This is an entry level qualification in project delivery which is recognised throughout the profession and is the first step towards personal Chartership. 

The exam is either scheduled at the end of the workshop or at a convenient later time to be agreed. The exam comprises:

• One-hour duration
• 60 multiple choice questions
• Taken on-line via the APM Portal
• Invigilated remotely
• The candidate must achieve a score of at least 60% to pass the exam
• Successful candidates will receive a digital badge to display on their business and social media accounts

Duration

Typically delivered as a two-day classroom workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to project management and leads to the APM Project Fundamentals examination.  Other modular and tailored formats are available on request.

Target Audience

This workshop is designed for those with little or no project management experience who wish to begin a successful project management career or to consolidate their experiences to date.
